Tuesday of Holy Week

Matthew 21:23-27

23 zAnd when he entered the temple, the chief priests and theelders of the people came up to him aas he was teaching, and said,b“By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave youthis authority?” 24 Jesus answered them, “I also will ask you onequestion, and if you tell me the answer, then I also will tell you bywhat authority I do these things. 25 The baptism of John, cfromwhere did it come? dFrom heaven or from man?” And theydiscussed it among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ hewill say to us, e‘Why then did you not believe him?’ 26 But if we say,‘From man,’ fwe are afraid of the crowd, for they all hold that Johnwas ga prophet.” 27 So they answered Jesus, “We do not know.” Andhe said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do thesethings.

A Prayer for Tuesday of Holy Week (Scotty Smith)

We long for the Day when we won’t even be tempted to look for peace, life, and joy anywhere else but in you, Jesus. Until that Day, we trust you to be our contentment and satisfaction, our righteousness and our inheritance.

Jesus Wept Over the City: Passion Week Devotion (Erik Raymond)

Jesus’ patience, love, and emotion are so convicting and instructive to me.  He had every right to yell at all of them for their rejection of him.  However he pauses over the city and in plain view, he weeps.  How unlike Christ am I that I do not even come close to this compassion, grief, emotion, or heartache?
