Waking up on mornings like these, some of us are feeling deflated and defeated. Some of us are feeling discouraged and angry. Some of us are wondering what’s next. Our Commonwealth voted overwhelmingly in favor of codifying, in our State Constitution, a complete dismissal of the humanity and value of human life in the womb, a complete dismissal of protection of women from predatory men, a complete dismissal of God’s design for marriage and gender and family. And as we start a new day – we need to ask the question… what do we do now?
REMEMBER – As Scott Mills texted me last night – “In a broken world, the Lord is still firmly seated on His throne. Our trust is not in government or the laws of men. We trust the Lord our God. If our time in Judges has shown us anything, we see God’s continued grace poured out on a people who do not deserve it. Our hearts are broken by the sinfulness that surrounds us, but our faith is not shaken.”
REMEMBER – As Jim Zahringer texted me this morning – “This world is not our friend. It’s not our playground. It’s a reminder that we as the church have work to do.”
REMEMBER – As we will see this week in Judges 20-21 – there is no human remedy for sin. Only the Lord can bring healing and forgiveness and sanctification. Only the Lord will judge and vindicate and bring vengeance for the innocent lives impacted by evil policies and evil people.
PRAY – Pray for our own hearts to trust the Lord. Pray for holy lives that are set apart and shine for Jesus in the darkness. Pray that we will be salt and light. Pray for neighbors who need Jesus. Pray for civic and government leaders who need salvation in Christ alone. Pray for abortionists to get saved. Pray for the most vile offender to truly believe in Jesus. Pray for those who would kill and destroy to come to faith in Jesus.
PRAY – for the success of court cases that have already been filed to overturn the amendments based on procedural violations to the amendment process.
PRAY – that the Church would be made holy, more and more distinct from the world around us. Pray that we will become increasingly faithful to Christ and His Mission and calling for us.
GET TO WORK – Stand and be counted now as families, as men and women who stand for truth. Give more generously to the work of the Gospel, to the work of the Church, to the work of Pregnancy Resource Centers, to the work of bringing TRUE LIFE to a culture of death.
GET TO WORK – The only solution, the only remedy to the sin problem of our world is sinners who have been saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ proclaiming to sinners the grace of Jesus Christ and the glory of His Name.
Today, if we are alive, you have breath in your lungs – use that breath to tell someone about Jesus. It’s the only way to truly change the world.
Thank you, Pastor Brad for reminding us about life here on earth separated from our Heavenly Father. Come quickly,Lord Jesus….
