Bible Reading for 2013… What’s Your Plan?

ImageEvery new year I like to find a new way to read through the Bible. It is important to find a method that will work for you. Jesus has told us that the Word of God is necessary for life (more necessary than food itself) (Deut. 8:3; Matt. 4:4) So, taking in the Bible is going to be essential in 2013 and beyond. I wanted to give you a couple of options for your reading this year.

1. I will be using this reading plan from Trent Hunter… Bible Eater. Download the pdf and start eating. The strengths… a redemptive history emphasis and flexibility.

2. For those who want a chronological look at Scripture, try the Chronological Reading Plan for ESV.org. The strengths… get the Order of the Big Picture of the Bible.

3. The Bible reading plan I have used 13 different times is the M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan, put together by Robert Murray M’Cheyne (1813-1843), Scottish Pastor and one of my favorite men from history… ever. Watch a Biographical Outline by John Piper of M’Cheyne’s life and faith here. Strengths… Time tested, daily readings from both Testaments.

Whatever your plan for reading is… share it with someone, find some accountability, and Happy Reading!

On a side note… I also like to spend about 3 months reading and re-reading ONE book of the Bible… This helps me with an in depth look at the book.  Would you be interested in joining me? For January-March I will be reading and re-reading Galatians.
