The Olympics… An Opportunity to Pray

The Sochi Winter Olympics start tonight… As the world gathers we should pray for peace, for the safety of athletes and those attending the games… but we also need to pray that the Gospel will go out with power during this time. Pray that God would use the Winter Olympics in Sochi to bring many people to know the greatness and and glory of Jesus and to trust Him as Savior and Lord.

IMB has several resources to help us prepare to pray and to utilize the Olympics as a Gospel Opportunity. Check out some of these resources… and enjoy some curling while your at it.

In all… don’t miss this opportunity to join our brothers and sisters around the world in praying for all those who will attend and compete at the Winter Olympics. Pray that Jesus would be seen as more glorious than any nation or games… and that as many nations gather together, we would be reminded that we have been promised that Jesus is at work to bring people from every tribe tongue and nation around His throne to worship. We get to be a part of this.

And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.” (Revelation 5:9-10)

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” (Revelation 7:9-10)
