Psalm 67: Joy to the Nations

To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Psalm. A Song. May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, Selah that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations. Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you! Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth. Selah Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you! The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, shall bless us. God shall bless us; let all the ends of the earth fear him! (Psalms 67:1-7)

“Joy is increased by spreading it to others.” RM M’Cheyne

REVIEW: Psalm 16… the presence of the Lord, the person of the Lord, the pleasure of the Lord is OUR FULL JOY.

  1. We are blessed by the Lord and with the presence of the Lord to MAKE HIM KNOWN.
  2. We make Him Known because He deserves to be PRAISED! (LOVE FOR GOD)
  3. We make Him Known because we desire JOY for OTHERS! (LOVE FOR OTHERS)
    • Idolatry brings DESPAIR
      • No POWER
      • No AUTHORITY
      • No GOODNESS
      • No PRESENCE
      • No HOPE

4. We desire JOY for OTHERS because We desire His KINGDOM TO COME!

  • We PRAY Thy Kingdom Come!
  • We SEEK FIRST the Kingdom
  • We LOOK FORWARD to the Kingdom of Joy in Jesus

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.” (Revelation 7:9-12)
