Month of Prayer for OPBC: Day 1

Happy New Year! As a church, we are kicking off 2026 with a month of prayer for our church. Why?

“The church that is not jealously protected by mighty intercession and sacrificial labors will before long become the abode of every evil bird and the hiding place for unsuspected corruption. The creeping wilderness will soon take over that church that trusts in its own strength and forgets to watch and pray.” – A.W. Tozer

We are using the book, 5 Things to Pray for Your Church as our guide this month. Come back daily for prayer prompts as we come together before the Lord. Join us on Wednesdays at 6:00PM at the church building as we unite our hearts in prayer for our church, for each other and for the Gospel to spread to all peoples.

DAY 1: PRAY THAT OUR CHURCH WILL REMEMBER WHAT WE ARE – 1 PETER 2:9-10

1 Peter 2:9-10 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

PRAY THAT OUR CHURCH WOULD REMEMBER THAT WE ARE A…

HOLY NATION: Praise the Lord for his grace and mercy shown to us. Praise the Lord that we are new creatures in Christ. Pray for holiness to mark us as God’s people at OPBC.

ROYAL PRIESTHOOD: Pray that we would be faithful to represent the Lord before people and represent the people before the Lord. Ask the Lord to make us faithful in our calling inside and outside the church.

PEOPLE FOR HIS OWN POSSESSION: Thank God for His love, His presence, His promises. Thank God for the security we have as His people. Pray that we will be confident and bold because of this security.

CALLED: Thank God for the calling in your life to live in the light! Pray specifically for some people in our church and the calling you see in their lives. Pray that we as a church will increasingly proclaim His excellencies by the way we live in the light and the way we declare the truth of the Lord.

MERCY RECIPIENTS: Praise the Lord for His mercy and pray that every day, more and more self-righteousness and self-reliance will be crushed at OPBC.
